Twenty Sixteen started off pretty badly for my family and I, meaning that the rest of the year was spoiled. Straight away I lost a family member, experianced my first funeral, grieved, isolated myself from friends and basically became disconnected from my surroundings. Although there was some amazing individual moments, the year as a whole was pretty average.
When I realised how close the new year was, I got very excited, excited for a fresh start. Ive came into Twenty Seventeen optimistic, and very pumped to see what this new year would bring. Already, this year has been absolutely amazing. Ive spent the past five days at my cousins holiday crib, basically in the middle of nowhere. Although I have gone to this crib for the last 10+ years of my life, this year was defiantly my favorite.
We spent the very last minutes of Twenty Sixteen, and the first minutes of Twenty Seventeen jumping up and down to three men playing 80's music on their instruments, in a District club and bar with my family. Although the alcohol (or fizzy drink for us young ones) had made everyone buzzed, and dancing had made everyone tired, there is no electric feeling the same as there was in that very club for the new years countdown. When finally the countdown was over, the first thing my cousins, my cousins other cousins (confusing sorta relations), aunties, uncles, brother and Dad did was hug. Why? Because that day, one whole year ago, we learnt just how valueable Family really is. We then continued the rest of that night dancing, playing retro pacman, walking in the pitch blackness home, and listening to retro beats half asleep in the lounge. My family has a bond that cant be broken. Even my Cousins relative that im not even closely related to, made the effort to ask me to dance with him, the bond that families bring is the best feeling. Even if your not related, the care and the relisation that time with eachother is valueable has a big impact on your relationships with others.
Other than New Years eve, this year I have gone lake side, golfing, watched many movies, had petanque tornaments, played countless games of lawn darts and travelled back home. I cannot wait to see what happens in twenty seventeen, its already been amazing. As well as excitement for my personal life, im excited to see what happens with Annas Oceams. What blog posts with I put up? Will I have the confidence to tell my friends about my blog? What will my Instagram look like? I guess we will find it out truely during the next 259 days.
Anna.
